I like it and the history that goes with it. I wonder if the top has metal over the framework, I like that feature, gives the top a unique look. I will not be in the price bashing club, that is for the A experts. Bob

I am surprised that the car doesnt sit higher so the front won't become a snow plow in deep snow.....that was a common problem where I lived in Colorado.
Also, I bet the car was a thrill on an icy off camber road

Thanks for the link to a really special creation and a great story by a fine teller! Were it mine, I would prefer working out the vibration problem, then drive it through the snow like it was meant to be. How fun would that be, and you could tow people on skis or innertubes!?

My grandfather, C. R. Oates was a rural mail carrier in East Texas ages ago. He swore by Model A's and used them on his mail route as long as he could find a half decent used one. Back then in East Texas it was not snow one had to go thru but lots of mud especially in the Spring.

When I first saw it I thought that it had a great Cabriolet body that could be used in a restoration. Bob then told me about its historical significance. As stated he is a great story teller of facts. He does a great deal of research on every vehicle he owns.

I'll have to ask Bob if Leonard Quammen came up with the idea himself or if it was a rather common adaptation. Either way Leonard truly lived by the motto that 'the mail must get through'.

I hope that it finds its way into some museum or extensive private collection. Its historic value makes it one that should be preserved as is.

Another thought, living in Montana for the past 30 years at times I have experienced -40F and other times winds over 100 mph. I can just imagine the conditions that this vehicle has driven in. Also, can you imagine some of the stories that could be told of the adventures folks had while driving this vehicle.

person selling it wants around $30,000 dollars for it. lot of money for it . but it is very rare so i would guess to the right person its worth it.

It's the first Bronco! Not the first "Donk"! Heard people say that their stock model A was the only car in town, through the sixties, that didn't get stuck in the deep snow, because of the ground clearance and narrow tires. Reminds me of the dual wheel conversions for army jeeps invented during the Korean conflict too. What's that story about nescessity being a "mother"...
