wheel spacer question

I reciently purchased a '30 A coupe that has been converted to hyd. brakes. My question is does anyone know the thickness of the spacers that are used between the drum and hub? These are missing on the car, I have access to a computer controled water jet and believe i can make these and save $$$$. Thanks for any help.

Re: wheel spacer question

Many years ago I installed 46-48 hyd brakes on an A & used the A wheels. All I did for spacers was use 2 standard flat washers on each stud and it worked fine for many 1000s of miles. You may have to grind down or knock off a drum balance weight tor the wheel to seat properly.

Re: wheel spacer question

In order to put hydraulics on an A with out using a spacer, you have grind or machine 1/8 off the inside flange of the drum and the outer lip of the backing plate. You also need to remove about 1/6 off the outer edge of the brake shoes. Looks like 5/16 or 3/8 should be thick enoughs for a spacer. I wish I had gone that way.
