Help identifying this dipstick tube

1 Attachment(s)
Dipstick tube on my 312 Country Sedan was never bolted to the head. I always thought it was just never attached. I soon discovered there are not enough bends in it. Clearly did not belong to this motor. Can anyone lend some insight where it came from? It does have a under layer of red-orange paint.

May have been on the smaller 6, like the 144- 170 or 200.

That tube looks correct for a front sump Y. Without knowing more about it, there's a good chance it was installed upside down in the block thus making the tab on the tube not aligning with the bolt hole in the head. Ted Eaton.

If you turned it right side up, it looks like it would be for a full-size car Y-block (except the mounting bracket would then be facing the wrong way). Factory blooper maybe???

Good info, I'll go measure. I tried flipping it and just won't mount up.

Thanks Ted. I was able to find information this is being for front sump oil pans (54-62 car):http://www.ford-y-block.com/accessories.htm I'm doing something wrong here in how I'm seeing the fit...I'm gonna go look again at my motor and try to understand why. side note: I found some pictures on yblock tubes and compared to mine..it does appear that it was installed upside down. Thank you Ted
