Sticking float valve Got a sticking float valve on my Ford 59 carb. Same as Stromberg 97? What is most reliable style of valve, current one is viton? Where to buy from?

Re: Sticking float valve Get a solid brass needle. The rubber tipped ones have an issue with sticking.

Re: Sticking float valve Gross-Jet valves work very good. Just Google Gross-Jet valve.

Perhaps bad luck but when the second stuck closed, well, no more for me. |
Re: Sticking float valve Does Gross-Jet make a float valve for a Ford/Holley 94 carb (model 59) ? I think that's what mrtexas has. Or are they made just for Stromberg carbs ? I have had good luck with solid steel needles, as Kube stated earlier.

Go to the HAMB and type "float valves" in the search. Enough reading to keep you busy for an hour. |
Re: Sticking float valve May not be the float valve..might be the garbage gas like here in calif. had a lot of trouble with calif. gas sticking the float on 30's cars..pounding carb side helps sometimes... a bottle of carb cleaner helps....sc

Re: Sticking float valve Might be a combination of both. I agree with sal.
I'd refer to charlieNY, sal, and max. |
Re: Sticking float valve A 59 holly is not anything like a 97 strom. Valve pressure stems are universal.

Re: Sticking float valve Tapped the 97 on my 38 Coupe with a small hammer and got it unstuck, working fine since
