I have been privileged to haul many Model A's over the years.

This one - is so very special to me ...... ;)


I got the call from Tom in Viroqua, WI about this Model A
in Missouri that he had just purchased at a Ford Dealership.

He was - quite excited.

I don't think Tom intends really to buy Model A's ....

I believe they find their way to him ..... :)


So - I arrive at the dealership just ahead of another big
Spring storm moving in ......

I walk into the main dealership showroom and get my first look

I walk around the Model A .....

Aside from a repaint sometime in the 1960's along with
new carpet in the front and sealed beam headlights required
by law that were installed many years ago ..... :cool:

This is an original unmolested survivor ..... :)

Jerry approaches - he is the salesman who has known the family
of this Model A for many years ....

The dealership had taken it in on a recent trade and after having it
displayed on the showroom floor for awhile - they put it up for sale

The nephew of the original owner arrives with his wife

He inherited the Model A when his uncle passed and continued
to drive it upon occasion around the St. Louis, MO area

He shows me some ephemera in the trunk of his car

After loading out - Jerry and I ride over to the nephew's house.

I spend some time going back and forth for Tom to acquire
some important items relevant to this Model A.

I leave with the original headlights - the original 1930 Kansas
license plates issued - a pair of sign boards detailing the history.

The journey to its' new home with Tom begins with a massive
storm to sit out - then a trip up to Wisconsin too not far
from the Mississippi River .... ;)

The story unfolds about this very special Model A:

Built in June of 1930

Purchased on July 19, 1930 from the HJ Perry Motor Company
in Kansas City, KS for $646.00.

Mr. Aloys Warms bought it on an installment plan.

A German immigrant and farmer - he drove it on the family farm
and later to his factory job as his only vehicle he ever owned
until 1983.

In those 53 years he put over 30,000 miles on his beloved
Model A.

A confirmed bachelor who never married, Mr. Warms
kept his car in tip top shape over the years.

No photo of him along with this Model A has been discovered
to date - he was notoriously shy about having his picture taken.

He saved the original sales brochure he used to decide on
whether to buy the car or not along with the salesman's business card,
the original window sticker, purchase agreement and the loan papers.

All of the registration and insurance papers over all those years
were saved along with all service records.

As Dusk gave way to Dark I arrive at Tom's right before another
massive storm system is about to hit .... ;)

We unload the Model A and wheel it down the drive and safely into
Tom's garage ....

It is with the best caretaker now .... :cool:

just love to read stories like this, great work, must give you just a thrill to explore every door that opens when someone can take you back in time to get the whole story keep up the great work and sharing it with all of us

Well, I'm a very UNCOMMON MAN, but I love them so called, COMMON, Coupes! My next choice is the so called, COMMON, Tudors. I think Henry made lots of them 'cause thet's whut folks wanted. I like my "SPORTY" Coupes, cuz they look like MY car, NOT my Great Grandfather's, or my Grandffather's car, or even CHIEF'S car. They're MINE, MINE, MINE!!!
DON'T know any of Vermin's history or escapades, DON'T REALLY care!! Even I have history thet I wouldn't tell to a soul!:eek::eek::eek::D---Bill W.

Beautiful car and a neat story. Great to have the history of the vehicle and all the information. Hardly anyone saves that information any more. Enjoy the vehicle
