28 Town Car?

https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds...d/2058323.html

This just came today in the latest Hemmings Motor News. Says 28 Town Car. I'm sure no expert on exotic Model A's, but isn't this a 28 Briggs Fordor? And priced accordingly. Input appreciated.

What an odd ad.
The seller seems to have no idea of what he has, yet in is priced at FAR less than a real town car. Doesn't seem too far out of the price range for a Briggs Fordor

Re: 28 Town Car?

He has a nicely redone (not restored) mid-to late 1928 Standard Fordor, of which by his own chart about 83,000 were made. None had armrests in the back seat. The black top was introduced in 1929. His price is about $3000 high for my area, but may be right for California.

The Town Car Delivery was introduced in 1930; I don’t know anything about earlier passenger models, but this gentleman’s car is not a Town Car.

Not a town car. Looks like a blindback sedan to me.

Looks a nice car ,but a 60A Briggs Leatherback.

Rotisserie restoration is where the bodies been taken off the frame and put in a jig that will allow you to rotated the body 360 deg.s.in it's length.

....however generally not done on a wood-silled body. (-no need to)

Found a town car photo. Open drivers compartment, divider window, and rear of body is square, not rounded like a town sedan or fordor. I once saw a fordor made to look like a town car, with open drivers compartment and divider window, but they could not replicate the rear body lines. The rear body is the give away. Buying a fordor dressed up to be a town car is like buying the Brooklyn Bridge.

The Model A in the ad is NOT a Town Car as the previous posters stated. See the attached factory photos of a 29 Town Car. That being said the Briggs Fordor in the ad appears to be a nice clean car, set up for touring. It also appears to have a Mitchel Overdrive, Aries SS muffler, and 2 bulb (1929) headlamps. By the video the engine sounds good. Without actually seeing and inspecting the car, I would say it appears to be fairly priced and would be a good driver.
