I just got notice that Auto Restorer magazine is out of business, kaput.
Too bad I renewed for 2 yrs. in December.
They got my money, I got nothing, nice.

Seems a lot of magazines are going by the wayside lately. With cover prices approaching $10 I'm not surprised.

And we only have ourselves to blame! If only we had never bought computers nor used the internet, we would still be happy with real, paper magazines as well as ordering our parts from their advertisers! But no, we have no patience and want everything NOW! The entire retail industry is collapsing. How will all those losing their jobs be able to afford to buy their car parts (or anything) online, even though it's faster and cheaper?

Spot on!
Another thing to go in the not far distant future is car dealerships. The only way to buy a Tesla is online and they require so little service that a traditional dealership couldn't survive. Electric cars will become more and more common, thus reducing the need for dealers (who rip us off on servicing). You heard it here first!

I just got notice that Car Craft and Street Rodder are gone. They want to give us who have a subscription to the a digital version to motor trend, a magazine I have never enjoyed. Hot Rod is still going to be published. I like print media better than seeing it on the internet.

Very few car magazines left. I had just renewed my sub. to a Pontiac magazine that went down and my money was put towards hot rod. I stopped reading that years ago, I guess I should've broadened my horizons but I got them for a couple of years and dont think I looked at more than 1 or 2. I get Old Cars and Hemmings but Old Cars was recently sold, they said it will get better if anything at all, I will wait and see! Hemmings downsized a couple of years ago, I get muscle machines and classic and I see a lot of overlap between the two, my guess it wont be long until they just have one publication. I prefer looking at paper over computer even though I know it is smarter to have an online version.

I too still prefer a magazine I can hold in my hand vs. a digital version. But, one drawback, I will admit, is the room they take up. I've given most of my magazines away.

I also get Hemmings Muscle Machines and Hemmings Classic Cars and I like them both, they do a good job. The magazines have interesting articles and aren't half fluff and redundant ads like so many others. It gets boring reading about just one type of automobile month after month. Once you've seen and dissected a '65 Mustang Coupe over and over and over, you're really ready for something else. And this is coming from a die hard fan of the Blue Oval:)

I've dropped just about all of the others. HMN's magazines are a better buy also, what about a buck and a half for a MONTHLY issue that's all color, heavy pages, and about a hundred pages long?? That's cheap entertainment. About the cost of a guz burger at McDonalds.

I don't know why, but I still belong to the two big Model A Ford clubs. They run close to a hundred bucks per year to belong to both, and all I get out of them is the bi-monthly magazine that has turned into a 10-15 minute read at best. They were definitely 'better' in the 70's as compared with today. I'm afraid they will go bye-bye at year's end too. That's just me.

The times they are a changin'.

Yup, I bet they are but a life saver for most of them is the other brands they carry. It has been a veeery long time since I saw a dealer who was Holden only.

I always enjoyed that magazine. One of my favorite parts was the mechanic on duty.

I used to subscribe to about 10 different publications and 6 different car clubs.
The price of all has gotten way too expensive so no more publications or car clubs.
Also they have about run out of stuff to print and keep repeating themselves.
Its too bad you can't join the Model T Club and the Model A Club at a lower rate
and not have to get the magazine.

When I bought my BMW in 2010, I started reading several magazines specializing in BMW. Many of them have gone out of business in the last 10 years. A number of them cited the high cost of producing high quality articles with high quality photographs. They said it was not cost effective to publish online either.

I didn’t subscribe to any of them because my wife would throw out my magazines. I would go to the bookstore to see if there were any articles I liked and I would buy that issue or take notes. Of course, Amazon has put a lot of bookstores out of business too. We’re lucky to still have a Barn’s and Noble store nearby.
