Crack in exh valve area; any local shops recommended?

I've got a crack running from the #1 exhaust valve seat to the water jacket. Any advice for repair? Does anybody know of a shop not too far from the Southwestern Ohio area that might be able to tackle a job like this?

Stitch it back together with overlapping tapered pins. If you lived in Northern California I'd come over and do it for you. Ask someone in any local car club if they know how to stitch a block and if they will help you.

It's a bit of a drive, but http://www.jandm-machine.com/ are the best.

Yeah, but the valve seat will probably have to come out & get reinstalled for pinning the crack, then the block would have to be surfaced well enough for the head gasket to seal. Don't know if I can do that in my home shop. What's involved in removing and reinstalling a seat?

The valve seat is part of the block, unless someone cut the block and installed a seperate seat.

Have you taken the valve out to see how far down the port the crack goes?

Tapered pins may not be the best choice, there is no support for them to push against ---the crack will just open up more.

I believe I could fix that.
