1934 ford coupe Rear end to high

My 34 coupe rear height need to come down by 1" . Looking for options, I am running 700/16 on the rear. I also have a reversed eye rear spring and have removed three leaves from the spring. Does anyone have a suggestion. i DO NOT WANT TO MODIFY THE CROSS MEMBER. Thanks Stan

Longer shackles

Longer shackles are really not a good idea on the early suspensions unless some type of pan bar is added.

Hi; My cpe with stock suspension- had the spring 'sagged' the 6" ends by someone with a torch. Looks good ride ok. Newc

I am with Newc on this solution, reinstall the three leaves that were removed and de-arch the spring. Removing the leaves will decrease the spring rate of the assembly and increase deflection of the rear axle over bumps. How much distance is there between the axle and the snubbers now?

Can Posie make you a custom spring?

Check out Eaton.

Wow, that doesn't seem like much. And, you want to reduce that by an inch?
My '37 is not together, but the rear axle is still under it. I will have to see how much clearance is there. I was expecting something on the order of 5-6 inches.

Put the leaves back in the spring and then take it to a good spring shop and have it de-arched. There has to be someone in the Reno area that can do springs. Call a big rig repair shop.

Reroll the eyes to the upper side of the spring.

Re: 1934 ford coupe Rear end to high

With only 2.5 inches clearance to the snubber, the only practical means of lowering the rear end further would be smaller rims/tires.

I'd like to see a picture of how the car sits. With only 2.5" of travel now, lowering the rear another inch is only going to leave 1.5" of travel. Unless you like bottoming out a lot, it sounds like you are going to need to C notch the frame to get it as low as you want it regardless of how you chose to lower it.

If it's a Posies spring it will settle down over time as any spring will do.
It already has reversed eyes and you have reduced the spring pack.
Be patient, You have already done the most you can.
To go any lower you will need to modify the rear crossmember or reduce the spring pack further.

Posies makes a rear spring with a 2” drop.

Don't reroll the eyes, just disassemble the spring and re- arch the main leaf cold on a press. I've done this with success although it does take a while
