Spare Tire for Roadster PU I have a 1929 Roadster pickup. Neither front fender has a well for a spare tire. Has anyone built some sort of carrier to mount a spare under the bed. There is plenty of room. Just checking so I don't have to reinvent the
wheel. |
Re: Spare Tire for Roadster PU A Friend used a spare tire hoist from a Toyota Pickup, to mount his spare under the back. Old Datsuns used them also.

Re: Spare Tire for Roadster PU Yes I did it. used a 19 inch motor cycle tire on my 19 inch wheel. Put a plate to the cross members of the bed with a long bolt in it. Then made a big flat washer turned a shoulder on it to fit the hole for the hub cap. then counter bore it for the nut. Cut a slot in the washer so you could put it on easy.

Re: Spare Tire for Roadster PU Model T but same idea. Friend of mine mounted two 21" T wire wheels under the bed of his 26 Roadster PU in anticipation of going to Alaska on a tour many many years back.
