grease gun adapter

Who makes a grease gun adapter for A fittings that works. I have one that I got from one of the vendors and it just leaks when held straight on with considerable pressure. It appears to be all metal and I believe the correct one has a sort of sealing ring inside it.

Are you sure the Zerks are in good shape? My adapter leaked but only on a few of the fittings. Inspection showed that the ends of the fittings had been deformed by something. Because the ends were not flat, pushing the adapter harder made no difference - the grease leaked out the spot that had been "dented". A couple of new fittings solved the problem.

Fittings are good if not all new.

Can new grease get in where it needs to go? More than a few grease points on my car were full of rock hard ancient grease that needed to be removed with a pick.

I have the same adapter and it does leak a bit but usually only if I can't get it dead straight on the fitting.

I had a similar problem and blamed it on the adapter. I removed the affected fittings and manually cleaned them by spraying both ends with a degreaser, then scraping the crud out with a small gauge wire and an ice pick needle. Then soaked them in gas overnight, reinstalled them the next day. Worked like new, no leaks. Worth a try!

Re: grease gun adapter

I will run a wire in these but have very carefully examined the adapter and a A grease fitting. The bore diameter is too large for the taper and the point grease comes out of is too large, the point just scoots on the fitting. I suspect offshore quality here. For the adapter to work right, the bore should be very close to the diameter of the grease fitting taper and as it touches the taper the point should be against the hole in the grease fitting taper.

Re: grease gun adapter

If you are talking about greasing a model A fitting, put a small O ring in the fitting(the ones the vendors sell to grease original fittings) and it will create a seal and you grease gun will work like it does on a Zerk fitting

Re: grease gun adapter

I have cut a small ring of thin leather (two hole punches), cleaned the end of the grease gun well and super glued the leather "washer" into the end of the gun. The leather acts as a seal. I've had to redo it once or twice but so what!.... it works.

I use a needle adapter and just hold it in the hole on original fitting. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...GFA8STQHCP229D

But since I have changed out all fittings to modern zerk fittings. IMO they work much better with the 'check ball' to seal the end. Then i put a zerk fitting cap on the to keep them clean https://www.amazon.com/Bleeder-Greas...733747&sr=8-11

I like my original fittings and original grease gun.
Try a heat gun on the old hard grease, to see if it will soften up to allow new grease in.
