Parts list for rebuilding headlights My late '29 two-bulb headlights were messed up when I got the car - wrong wires, wrong reflector, quartz fixture, rusted conduit, etc. I need to get it back to stock, but I can't find an assembly diagram of which parts I need to completely replace the innards.
Does this list look right (using Bert's part numbers)? 13081-A set of two focus springs and screws 14584-B set of two headlight plugs 13120 (x2) socket holder 13075-B (x2) headlight wiring, '29 two bulb 14578-C SS conduit set 13026-D set of aluminum plated reflectors The lens, rim, and shell are correct. I'm also getting a new harness from Sac Ford. |
Re: Parts list for rebuilding headlights Looks complete to me, except for the bulbs.
|
Re: Parts list for rebuilding headlights Yeah, the bulbs are accounted for

Re: Parts list for rebuilding headlights wasn't there a gentleman years ago that sold restored headlights?

I think you are probably thinking of Don Hesse that sold restored lights on eBay under the name Cobalta. Most of what he was doing is restoring stainless lamps though. Finding head lamp cases in good enough shape to replate is difficult. Finding someone (-besides Craig) to affordably replate them in Nickel is even more difficult. |
Re: Parts list for rebuilding headlights Colin, you make no mention of glass lens, the cork seal, the lens retainer clips nor the rim retainer. Are those OK on yours??
|
Re: Parts list for rebuilding headlights The lens is good, it's a new correct lens. The clips are good and the retainer is good.
I should get a new seal, is there a functional difference for cork vs neoprene? |
Re: Parts list for rebuilding headlights For me, cork seems to stay in place better than neoprene...Besides that it is original.

Re: Parts list for rebuilding headlights Thanks, I was able to get most of it from SVF, and the rest from Bratton's. SVF did not have stock of the new Bratton's reflectors, the plugs, or the SS conduit.

Re: Parts list for rebuilding headlights I would stay away from Fords original connection setup between the lamp wires and the harness . Some offshore parts I have seen would allow a short at the junction . I leave the "bullets" on the wire ends and connect with the rubber covered steel sleeves . The three sleeves fit neatly in the conduit end /headlamp . There is a neat tool called a Rippault here in the UK that is a plier with slots you should have one in USA like that nice click when they engage .
