Re: Help getting a differential shipped Put it on a pallet and go to your local Fastenal store. The will ship it for peanuts compared to anybody else. They ship from terminal to terminal only.

Re: Help getting a differential shipped I tried Fastenal here in Calif. They said they do not do freight any longer due to the lack of space in their trucks. They will haul from other parts of the country and drop off at the Reno store.
I had a rear axle assembly shipped from Pocatello, Idaho to Sonoma, Calif. through EngineShippers.Com for 200 bucks. That was less that it would have cost me for fuel and food. They had the part here in three days. -Dennis |
Re: Help getting a differential shipped I'm trying to make a rear end also -west coast to east coast so I'm trying to talk the
seller to take it apart so it will be in three boxes. He hasn't got back so I guess its goodby columbia axle. |

Re: Help getting a differential shipped Most salvage yards ship all over the country. I have one near by that will ship it, they only charge for packing it on a pallet. You pay for the shipping.

Re: Help getting a differential shipped Maybe one of the car haulers on here or the hamb might be in the area. That's how I got mine to me.

Re: Help getting a differential shipped I purchased a couple of banjo rear axles from a guy in Phoenix quite a while back. I figured he would take the torque tubes off and ship everything in a rectangular crate but I was wrong. He made a huge crate the shape of a grand piano and shipped both of them in there completely assembled. Needles to say, they found their way partially out of the crate while in transit but at least he banded them together so nothing was lost. It was a b!tch to get it unloaded from the truck. The less than a load truck freight really didn't matter about size back then so they just charged by weight. It cost me less to do it that way than to travel to all the swap meets in Texas to find a rear end and I ended up with two for the price of one.
Now days they calculate the width, length, & height plus the weight but it is still fairly reasonable if you have a shipping broker. They can find the least expensive way for you. |
