1935 Distributor Upgrade

1 Attachment(s)
What parts are needed to upgrade a stock 1935 distributor to improve the advance curve?

I have not found a definitive list. I highlighted the parts that I think are needed:

Thank you in advance-

Re: 1935 Distributor Upgrade

I have a 35 with late 36 distributor with flat top coil modified with the 11A- parts for the advance and the engine runs and starts great. You will find the shaft with the flat plate and holes for advance, the weights and the advance plate are all marked for the 11A advance. How you use the rotor for the 35 on the shaft for the 11A I do not know. So changing the 35 distributor to the 11A advance is not a simple swap of parts without some modification. The late 36 distributor uses the same rotor as the 1941 so it is a simple swap of parts.

You simply run the early rotor on the 11A shaft with no modifications needed. Sometimes you have to shim the rotor to remove endplay. We stock the shims in .007 thickness.
The snap ring highlighted is the same either way. You can reuse the cast lower housing but you will need to remove the oil shield. While the 11A is a improvement, the BIGGEST plus is being able to run the 37-48 points and getting away from the junk early points. 68 series runs well too either way the points are the big improvement.
