Testing fuel pump I installed a a new airtex dobule action fuel pump on my 52 Victoria it didn't work pulled it off and ran a hose from the intake to a can of fuel and operated by hand still didn't work so returned it and they sent a new one that acts the same way, wondering if I am missing something or the pumps are both defective.

Re: Testing fuel pump Check to make sure that the glass bowl is secure with no leaks.
Also check to make sure there is a total movement of appox. .200 of the push rod. |
Re: Testing fuel pump If it has a glass bowl fill that with fuel as well before trying to start to prime the pump if you have not tried that previously.

Re: Testing fuel pump I'm curious about how it was operated by hand. I was trying one a few months back and had to hold the pump firmly in both hands and push the actuating arm against a bench ledge to get enough stroke to make it pump.

Re: Testing fuel pump Filled glass bowl with fuel even pushed some fuel thru pump with a syringe still cannot get it to pump, The arm only moves about a quarter inch not too hard to do by hand.
