I am sorry that we are not going also. Having rental to take care of keeps me busy. Maybe next year. We just bought another house with 4 block garages. One for a Motor Home that I put our Motor Home in. Now I got more room at home in my big garage. Summer is over and it went fast for me. I do hate winter. Hope Tony keeps us inform an what going on down there. Still got that jar of shine that he gave me. Will his daughter be with him. My wife like her. Very nice girl. I don't know if Tony remember us. Miss seeing you Vic also. Maybe we can sneak down to Florida for a couple of weeks this winter.

Re: 2015 Moonshine Festival, Dawsonville, GA

I went on Sunday and heard that Saturday was the big day. In talking to one car owner, most cars had cleared out by end of day Saturday because there was no judging this year. His claim was that no one hauls a car for 500 miles just for a drive-in show. He tells me that last year all three days were madhouse busy. Sunday was a very slow day with about two dozen cars around the courthouse, nothing in the Ford lot and 40 or so cars in the City Hall parking area.

This is my first time going. The traffic was well under control from what I hear last year was like. That could be a result of few attendees. Parking was staged all around the event with further lots bussing people in every 15 minutes starting at 10:00. Since the event opened at 8:00 I had to move lots to walk in.

There were very few vendors, most selling unrelated stuff (junk). I loved seeing the cars but overall think the show is becoming a walk in the town bazaar.

I went on Friday and Sunday and it was disappointing both days. I couldn't go Saturday. I hope I can go on Saturday next year. John.

The Dawsonville Moonshine Festival has always been a great show for me. Sometimes a good thing can go bad for various reasons, but hoping this is not the case with this show. Could not make the show this year due to a previously planned trip to Kentucky. Hoping things work out for a run to Georgia, through the Blueridge Mountains, next October.

Re: 2015 Moonshine Festival, Dawsonville, GA

I'm pretty sure most of the Sunday problem was the 100% chance of incoming rain after the 2 previous perfect days. The Ford area at the school was packed on Saturday, but with post-flathead cars. Most flatheads are usually downtown, with a few mixed in at Hall of Fame. Sunday was definitely a little slack. Its still one of the most awesome shows in my driving range, and judged cars seem to be only a small part. I very much enjoyed meeting Kiwi!

I agree this is great show that is growing. This is show the whole family can enjoy. There a lot shows out there is just for the car club members. Thanks to ever one that put together a great show.

Hey Ken, nobody goes there anymore... It's too crowded... LOL In the past, we (the Cigar City Flatheads) have driven up from the Tampa Bay area on the Thursday prior to the event. Additionally, we have held our own "cruisin'" events on the Friday of the Festival and attended the Festival on Saturday, parking at Thunder Road or at the School. We've always used Sunday as our travel day to drive back to Florida. I've always enjoyed the Moonshine Festival, sorry to have missed it this year but looking forward to next years event.

Re: 2015 Moonshine Festival, Dawsonville, GA

Other than a poor Sunday attendance, can anyone compare the Friday/Saturday attendance this year to last year or prior years?

RCS41PU 10-27-2015 02:45 PM

Re: 2015 Moonshine Festival, Dawsonville, GA

Sunday seems to always have lighter attendance than Saturday. Many cars are already in the area on Thursdays even though there is no "official" area for them until sometime Friday, with no real designated areas for show cars or people who just drive or haul their old car there. Thursday and Friday seem to be car guy days, with the public coming and the "show" on Saturday. Just my two cents.:D

Re: 2015 Moonshine Festival, Dawsonville, GA

To those who missed the event, it was awesome! Lots and lots of fords, some with flatheads and some without. There are about 150 spaces on and around the square and all were filled. 1940's were predominant but everything from model A's to 1960's were represented. There was even one chevrolet and one studebaker, I don't know how they got there. The car show and swap meet are a quarter mile away and there was a little bit of everything there. There was still another show going on around the school. There's always next year....-RG
