Horn again... Posted a few days ago for horn diagram with great results, thank you. I have now received a few parts I ordered and proceeding to put it all back together. One question, the gaskets were missing and I am putting new ones on---do the new ones need any lubricant on them? It may be a dumb question but I didn't want to put it all back together and find out I should've, could've, would've.
Thank you, Nick |

Re: Horn again... Guess it was a dumb question. Thank you Gary for your response. Take care, Nick

Re: Horn again... Nick , let me introduce you to The Barn. There are no dumb questions here. Have you seen some of the things asked here ? I have asked my share of what I thought were dumb questions only to find others have asked also. I learn from everyone's supposed dumb questions . It's only dumb to assemble something and not ask if your unsure.

Re: Horn again... Thank you James, I hear what you're saying. I've always been pretty confident in all endeavors I've tried to tackle but not being such a good mechanic this whole Model A thing (since I purchased about a month ago) has been quite the challenge for my ego. :(

Re: Horn again... Actually I put a light coat of oil on the diaphram and a light coat of grease on the gaskets. I figure it helps fight the rust.
I also like to use oil or grease on the threads of most Model A bolts when I assemble parts. I also put grease on the chisel point of the diaphram. |
Re: Horn again... That's kind of what I was thinking so maybe the gaskets wouldn't get brittle down the road (no pun intended).
Just for future reference Tom, would it just be universal to put some light coating of oil on any gasket? Thank you, Nick |

Re: Horn again... Nick. I am sure you have been on the site long enough to know that Tom is a wealth of knowledge. Nice thing is it is given free and freely !

Re: Horn again... Yes, right you are. As I've mentioned before I wish Tom was my next door neighbor :) but as I've also mentioned, after a couple weeks with me dragging him over to help me he would probably move to another state! ;)
