How do I use this puller? From Snyders. How does this actually work? The "instructions" are a bit vague to say the least.

Re: How do I use this puller? When the spark plug adapters are set good and solid, the frame will fit down on the plug studs and make contact with the cylinder hold down studs that are firmly held in the deck of the block. When you tighten the two nuts on the plug studs it applies a jacking force by pulling against he head and pushing against the head hold down studs. The big holes in the frame allow an overhead hoist or cherry picker crane to apply upward pressure as well. Something will give eventually. Hopefully they aren't too badly corroded between the head hold down studs and their corresponding bores.
They should show a photo of the thing installed on an engine so a person can get the idea of how it's supposed to work. |
Re: How do I use this puller? Rotowrench have a great description. Know that it will help break it loose but you will still have to pry it up and off the studs. It had alimited travel of the distance the studs are exposed till flush with head.
As always removing a head be careful not to damage valves and block seating surface. Larry |
