Do any of you smell a rat here?

I found this ad on Craigslist and am suspicious. About a month ago this same person had an "immaculate" 1930 coupe for sale on Craigslist for, as I remember, about $10,000. That ad had many pictures of a very nice BLACK 1930 coupe and read almost word for word the same as this ad. I checked with E-Bay and they have no record of this person or the e-mail address. The car was never listed on E-bay. So giving the benefit of the doubt to this person I have to ask how do you use E-bay Motors without listing the item? I thought about reporting the ad to Craigslist but do not want to cause this person undue trouble if the ad is legitimate. So what is you opinion other than if it is on the up and up it is one heck of a deal!!

Hey,

I'm selling it at this price of $6,000 because my husband died 2 months ago (he had a heart attack) and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it a.s.a.p. No damage or hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained... I have a clear title, without liens or loans on it, under my name. Me and my son decided to sell the house and we moved to my parents house in Twin Falls, ID trying to start a new life. We need to meet up to my parents place or I can arrange delivery - it will cost the gas money.

I want to use eBay Motors services (5 days of testing prior purchase) for the safety of both of us so if you’re interested in purchasing, please provide me your full name for the bill of sale, your full address and a phone number so I can notify eBay that you're selected as my possible buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.

I look forward to hear from you!

Thanks!

P.S. I have attached the pics to the email, the specs are below:

1930 Ford Model A Deluxe Coupe

fits alot of what they warn about. My guess is once they get you hooked they want you to send them money for gas to get there for you to look at it, promising to use ebay protection, big hurry to sell, price well below normal - too many flags...

I agree. The way the ad is written has many red flags, as others have noted. The casual introduction, the personal information (too many memories, death from heart attack, etc) all scream scam to me. The internet has made scams so much easier, unfortunately.

Have seen a few scams on Craigslist and EPay.

https://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

this is how to report scams, it helps track down the perps.

Scam.

Most woman don't know this much about cars and transfers.
You don't need ebay to be safe.
She doesn't need your info to give to ebay.

Buyer beware. Buy in person only.

The description of the car is from someone in the know. Most women do not know to use words like (bright work) to describe chrome. What's the odds she did? Very low imo.

This exact scam has been going all around the country recently. The car may exist but believe me the seller in this case does not have possession of it.

You can play with them for awhile. tell them you have a relative nearby that wants to see the car in person. The excuses will start flowing like water at Niagra Falls.

Re: Do any of you smell a rat here?

I answered an ad like that once for a car hauler. Almost exact wording other than the discription. Wanted me to deposit money in an their escrow account that would be released after they delivered the trailer and I found it be as advertised. I am sure there was no trailer. The alarm bell went off because of the personal information request.

Scams we should all be aware of: they send a check for too much , Microsoft calls you to fix your computer. Nigerian prince gold emails. Someone requesting money for a relative of yours in distress.
