Best Place to buy Clutch 10 In. disk
 

I am assembling an engine that has set in my garage for the last dozen + years. (1942 block 276 Cu. In) I can not find the clutch disk. I am a little old, and somehow the D#@%&M disk has taken a walk. Cover was from the Ft. Wayne folks and I do have it. I do not want any china parts in my engine. I guess I am a little out of the loop for parts buying. Who now sells the best one??? or at least a good one. I see the disks that Speedway sells, is it a good disk or China import??? I was happy:) to see all you good flathead people are still here. David

David, Call up Ft. Wayne Clutch, tell them your situation and what parts you are working with. If you know what the pressure plate you have fits then you're off to a good start.

I 'm not sure if 1942 Ford cars came stock with a 10 inch clutch so you might have a Ford pick up truck 10 inch clutch and pressure plate or even a 49-50 Merc 10 inch clutch and pressure plate.

Is there a part # on your pressure plate?

I may have an extra at my shop. I got a bunch of miscellaneous FH clutch parts from a guy that was getting out of flatheads a few years ago, but I don't really know what I have. I can check if you want. (I don't know where it all came from, but it's been around long enough so it's probably USA made.)

What ever you get check the clearance between the flywheel bolts and the spring in the center of disc..!!
