water pump At last I got my gas leak fixed. Now all I have left to fix is the leak at my water pump. I have the new style with the false grease fitting and I am pretty sure mine has the stud and nut all in one so there should be more room to pull off the pump right? I have over an inch clearance between my fan blade nut and the fins of the radiator. Would that be sufficient enough to pull away the old pump? Is this a job I could do myself?

Re: water pump If you have the 2 blade fan, you could release the radiator rods and tip the radiator ahead far enough to remove the water pump. It would help to remove the hood. You should be able to do this task yourself.

Re: water pump Thanks. I'll give it a try.

Re: water pump If you have a 2 blade fan, place the blades vertically and take the pump out to the side. You don't need as much room that way.

Re: water pump The hood on my 1930 car is a little heavy to lift. I can do it but it is a hassle. Others have rigged blocks and tackle and a hook on the ceiling to lift the hood up. The block and tackle used to store bicycles may do the job. I put a carpet down on the cement floor to store the hood vertically so that the paint does not get chipped or the hood distorted.
