Unboxed the electric wiper kit for my '38 at 3pm, 4 hours later I have twin-speed wipers. What a great set-up. Simplicity itself, and worked perfectly first time.
If you're pondering getting a kit from these guys, buy with confidence.

To answer your question, according to their site, they do NOT offer 6 volt conversions.
Have had a unit installed for over 20 years and had to use it only 2 times as I recall.

If any of you guys that have these still have the installation instructions/specification sheet, could you check to see if it has the amerage requirements? Thanks.

Seem to recall that the only thing that came with the kit was Installation instructions, no spec. sheet.
Perhaps a call to Newport Engineering will work.
(Do I detect a voltage converter in the works for the 6 volt guys?:D

The company called Mighty Wiper has them in 6 volt. They are also a great product.

Yep, I am running the prototype unit in my '51 right now. Everything seems to be working great. As a test case, I have a Garmin GPS installed that has been working perfectly for the last week. Next, I will be trying several sound systems and anything else I can think of. If anyone has more suggestions or requests, I am open to them.

I have their set up in my 33 pickup. They work fine except that I had to get them to swap out the wiper blades for some shorter (8") blades because no matter how I clocked the arm or adjusted the arm length, on the left especially, it either ran the blade out on the side of the windshield frame or the top of it. Now the wiper doesn't run out on the frame but it doesn't wipe right where I look through the windshield. The kit was installed exactly according to instructions. The drive is also very noisy in the cab, even though I insulated the area above the w/sh and made a cover for above the w/sh. I contacted them about this and was told "that is just the way it is". I just felt that for the high cost (in my opinion) that they should run more silently. At least they beat old vacuum wipers.

I have their kit on my deuce 3 window as a single side kit, on my deuce pickup as a dual kit and I had it on the deuce 5 window I just sold as a dual kit and they performed perfectly. My main problem is blade length as they are all chopped. I told them what the chops were and they provided the perfect length arms and blades. I can hear the wipers in my pu but it's not a big deal as I have no interior except a seat and kick panels so the noise level is rather excessive. I have no noise problem in either coupe. I just got a 40 coupe with vacuum wipers and I'm planning on installing their electric kit on it also. Great products and great people to work with.

This sounds interesting. The New Port is $400, gulp. But the standard one is two speeds (but also 12V). The Mighty Wiper is $135 to $165, one speed, you can make a two speed switch I understand. And by special order available in 6V. Processing...

Anyone know what the experts get to refurb the vacuum job that I have on my '35?

I have a Mighty Wiper in my deuce sedan delivery and it has been nothing but trouble. I did use Mighty Wipers in several previous deuces before Newport started making kits for the deuce and they worked fine. Maybe I just got a bad one but they have been no help?

Most vacuum wipers cost between $70-85 to fix.

I have a New Port kit, 12v, 2-sp, it says to fuse at 6 amps. The kit I have is somewhat unique and was poorly engineered. It blew a 25 amp fuse, motor is fried, new one is $100 ++

Have just fitted a 12v 2 speed wiper motor from Speedway Motors to a 46 Mercury.
Good unit easy to install, bolted straight in to exiting vaccum motor mounts and appears to run good Well priced at $125.00. I'm still on 6v!!
It was fitted with a 10A fuse but will check amps use in run condition.
Got tired of the vaccum unit.
