Correct Color for the Unity Series 2 Fog Light hardware
 

I'm restoring a set of Unity, Series 2 Fog Lights for my 34 Ford Cabriolet. I've cleaned up the metal parts that secure them to the bumper brackets which are painted a low gloss black. What color should I paint them? In the past I have copied the body color, but it never looked quite right, sitting as they do on the black bumper brackets. Any suggestions as to how came originally, or what looks best now?

Same color as the bumper brackets or semi gloss black. Regards, Kevin.

I might add that back in the day some driving/fog light mounting brackets were cad or zinc plated to more or less match the lamp body that was chrome or stainless. In rare cases nickel or chrome was used as well. So take your pick. Regards, Kevin.

I agree with koates on the plating as posted above. You most likely know Ford did not offer road lights for 34.

Terry's last sentence says it all. Given that they weren't offered by Ford, you can finish them any way you want and satisfy your definition of "correct". And while on that subject, of the dozens of NOS bumper brackets I've had from both Ford of Canada and Ford U.S. over the years, nary a one was painted low gloss black. All were high gloss black.
