EAB head question

Looking at a set of EAB heads. The numbers are EAB-6049-D, and EAB-6050-D. Determined from a chart the 6049 is a right hand head, and the 6050 is a left hand head. They were OEM on the 53 Ford car 239 CID flathead engine. Replacement items for 52 Ford car 239 CID flathead engine.

There's additional casting numbers on each head:
The 6049 has the code 310C and a F on it,
The 6050 has the code 310J and a D on it.

What do these latter numbers mean, and would these still be considered a matched set of heads?

Thanks! JR

Re: EAB head question

JR, I am pretty sure the 310 C & J etc. are just casting numbers at the time they were cast, such as plant, shift, etc.

Re: EAB head question

FoMoCo castings have always has extra numbers added by the employees during the build up of the mold boxes. They may have had meaning to the manufacturer but that meaning has seldom been passed on. Part numbers are known and certain model IDs are known and even some date codings on cylinder blocks but little else is known other than this. If they are EAB they are correct for 1952 & 53 Ford cars. No one that I am aware of can tell if they have any other match potential other than that.
