1929 tudor front radius rod question

I was crawling around under my newly acquired tudor, & noticed a logging chain hooked to the radius rod cap. It wraps tightly up against the trans on the passenger side, & is bolted to a hole, with a nut/bolt in the trans mount. I'm thinking maybe the whole assembly holding the rods in place are broken, & the chain is holding it all in place. Does anyone have a "breakdown" on how they assemble under the trans?

Most all parts suppliers have diagrams of all the parts, just hope the socket is not broke.

I am so sorry for your plight, but could you possibly post some pictures. I’d love to see how this is positioned!

Who in their right mind would wrap it with a chain?

I found this drawing which you should find useful. It is part of the laminated drawings that MAFCA and MARC sell. I have found them valuable when working on my car.

"Farmer fix."

Not to run this down. I've met some pretty smart farmers.

i'll try to get some pics loaded this weekend. There were a few other farmer fixes (like brazing the hood shelves to the fenders in a few spots odd ball springs replacing the anti rattlers etc.). But, so far every nut, bolt, & screw has moved right out, without much resistance

You would laugh at my tudor as it is a farm car, not worried about what it looks like as it is driven off road. Someone put a metal top on and I have coated it wilt Flex Seal to keep it from leaking around the edges, that works but someone will not like it some day when they work on the car. I tend to fix things original if I can but what ever works, I don't think I will use a chain to hold things together, that is a bit much.

i kind of "enjoy" looking at farmer fixes. I go to a lot of auctions, i drag home lots of model a stuff. Frames seemed to be especially susceptible to that kind of repair.
