Tom Wesenberg's ammeter nut tool

I spotted this on Vince's Ford site. Pretty cool. Good job Tom! I'd think the major parts houses would want to have you build some of these so they can sell them.

Thanks Jeff. Notice the slight curve I filed on the engagement lugs that fit the slotted nut. The slot is cut into the nut with a round blade, so by curving the end of the tool, it gives full engagement.

I also forgot to mention the other day that I hammer the ends of the brass handle, so it can't fall out and get lost.

Speaking of getting lost, yesterday I dragged home another free air compressor from curbside a couple blocks away. This is the second one in two months, and both of them had the handle missing. I don't understand why they would remove and loose the handle on a small portable air compressor.

I tighten the slotted nuts with POINTY, 90 degree snap ring pliers. Better than a "KICK IN THE HEAD"!

our portable is more semi mounted than anything, alot of people with the small ones like to put them under the workbench and just run the hose to a reel, the handles usually stick up/out so much easier to either not install them when new or take them off to make them fit better.
