Help Please - Engine Mounts for 1958 Ford Ranch Wagon 351W Conversion

Hi All

I was wondering if somebody could please help?

I am busy starting a conversion on a 1958 Ford Ranch Wagon and Fitting a 351W, it was previously factory fitted with the 6cyl lump, could somebody please now point out the correct engine mountings for me to use with the 351W.

Also any other pointers at all would help.

Many Thanks
Daryn

Small block truck mounts would have the stud to fit the slot in the mount pad, might not be in the proper place thought, a little fabrication might be needed.

Try Butch's Cool Stuff. They list either a kit for a car that originally came with a V8 or this one: https://butchscoolstuff.com/57-59-fo...e-kit-2510cpb/ It says its for an original 6 cylinder application or a station wagon. Not sure if it means its for all station wagons or just ones that came with a six. Worth a phone call, IMO. Hope this helps. Wagons are cool, again IMO.

Might try the HAMB, lots of post about the swap. I didn't think there was any difference on the car frame between 6 or 8. My last 58 has been gone 25 years.

Like the guy says, Butches Cool Stuff. A bolt in deal. six cyl and eight cyl mounts are the same. An easy job, the engine can be in and hooked up within an hour. No cobbling involved at all, worth every penny.

This will save you a bunch over the Butch's kit and the parts are all over the counter from Pep Boys or Autozone here are the part numbers and pictures read the notes under the pictures. If you need additional info feel free to message me. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...-mounts.41498/ And you will NOT need any spacers as other mounts that were suggested. Are you using an early 351 with a front sump oil pan ?

DO NOT use the Butch's kit see my post and save $100 plus. You also will have an advantage since the car had a Six previously.

I am the founder and the moderator of the H.A.M.B. 1952-59 Ford Social Group founded in May of 2009 over the years members have done hundreds of swaps we have a HUGE "Sticky" with pictures and tons of advice for members. The Butch's kits work well on some applications but some of the text on their site is wrong I have even sent them pictures from our members hoping they would make corrections but they have not.:(

The engine mounts are from the Fox Body 5.0 Mustangs the rear mount was used from the mid 60's to early 80's in a lot of Ford models https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...129845&jsn=592

I suppose I should bring this up about slotting the mount holes, the reason we started advocating doing this is because during the 50's Ford had plants in many locations and we started finding out that these mount pads on the cross member were off center in many cases, they didn't have computer accuracy "back in the day". The slots give some room to compensate for the off center issue,in some cases they were not needed like you see on the TV shows they usually do a trial fit. If you do a trial fit with the engine and transmission as a unit line up the transmission mount first and drill if needed then proceed to the engine mounts. You want your Windsor swap as close to the firewall because of it's longer length, you can shorten that about 3-4" by using the early 289 pre-1970 water pump and balancer and pulleys.

We have about two left here in Phoenix but we now have had some Advance Auto stores show up recently. O'Reilly's uses the same part numbers and there is always ebay. If you want polys instead of the low grade rubber these days this is a good deal. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-1995-F...sAAOSwsnVeT-y7
