Re: Sound deadening suggestions as you live in CA, best to insulated the complete inside of car, ceiling, doors, sides, and floor, firewall and rear of body.

Re: Sound deadening suggestions Be reminded of insulation in doors and window quarters that can get wet

Re: Sound deadening suggestions I have just done the inside of our 33,using dynamat,
great ,I did from the top of the firewall to the back of the floor under the rear seat, VERY quite and a lot cooler. Lawrie |
Re: Sound deadening suggestions Didn't Henry use some kind of asphalt/fiber coating in the doors? It seems that I remember seeing some kind of coating peeling off the inside of an old Tudor that had not been run since early 50's.

Re: Sound deadening suggestions I've used the foil backed stuff you buy at Lowes and Home Depot, costs a lot less and works well.

Re: Sound deadening suggestions I had some black rubber around I think it was pond liner. i put that under some carpets I made that I cut from those black mats they have at the bank. I get a deal on the slightly damaged ones the linnen company throws away. Major improvement. I would like to dynamat the vertical surfaces and door skins in the future. but night and day difference with the floor job. But I did just have floor boards before.

Re: Sound deadening suggestions I've only driven mine with the floor boards removed. You can hear everything. It will be interesting with the board installed and carpet or floor mat. I would love to take a ride in one that's been restored correctly/accurately. I bet it's like a new penny.
Not long ago I saw 4 or 5? Tudor, fordor drive by my shop one morning about 8:30 going south on US 21. I then saw them go back North on US21. My shop is south of but very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I could tell they were all in really nice condition and were touring as they were bumper to bumper together. Was it any of you? If you're ever going to be in my area let me know as I'd love to see your car/s. I'm close to Sparta NC. I'd also be happy to let you have use of any tools I have to help with a repair or quick fix. |
Re: Sound deadening suggestions Whatever you do, don’t get carried away on the floor boards. Remember that they will have to be removed some day on the side of the road.

Re: Sound deadening suggestions Ear plugs. Or the above suggestions are good. Dynamat is more expensive, but the best.
Don’t forget, this stuff adds weight to the car so don’t put it every where. Just lift a box of this stuff and see how heavy it is. |

Re: Sound deadening suggestions I have had good results with Fatmat. I put it on the floorboards as well, then just cut around the edges
so they can be removed. |
