Wind Wing Tension Washer What is your experience with the Wind Wing Tension Washer? How is it placed correctly? Please some advise.

Re: Wind Wing Tension Washer I have never used them on my roadster and have never had a wind wing screw back-out so have felt no need to try them. Not sure if you are trying to solve a problem of having your wind wing become loose and falling off but, I have always mounted the glass and pads using 3M Weather Stripping Adhesive. Just put a little on the pads. It is glue-like and has held the glass for years. Hope this helps...……..

Re: Wind Wing Tension Washer I've had lots of wind wing troubles over the years. Not so much the spring washers but keeping the clamps tight and not slipping off. Someone on here gave me some good advice about drilling a small 1/8 hole through the glass and putting a 1/8 dowel in with a place ground in the clamp to hold it when the clamp starts to slide off. I've tried all kinds of glue on mine and still had glass to fall off while driving but not since I drilled the glass.

Re: Wind Wing Tension Washer Thank you for the advice. I haven't had problems yet. Haven't driven my 1929 Phaeton yet. Just saw these tension washer and was curious about the fitting and effect.

Re: Wind Wing Tension Washer There is no need to drill holes in the glass, -or use some type of fancy glue. Instead use the correct shaped clamps and the correct rubber, ...and they will stay forever.

Re: Wind Wing Tension Washer Original equipment wind wing brackets with a recessed clamp surface, and rubber pads, hold the glass firmly.'
Replacement wind wing brackets which have a flat surface do not grip the glass as well. |
Re: Wind Wing Tension Washer Mr. Terry,
For a 1931 Deluxe Roadster, please provide some information as to "the correct shaped clamps and the correct rubber". Do you know where they can be purchased? Thanks very much. |
Re: Wind Wing Tension Washer I used the commercially available washers from a vendor and I have had no trouble with the original wind wings on my ‘30 Phaeton. Prior to installing the washers the wings would not stay in place.
