Transmission Work Stand

I've been helped several times from this site that I thought I would pass this information on to those working on rebuilding their transmissions. I ran across this a while ago, and from memory I constructed this transmission stand with perhaps a few improvements.

Some of you may be familiar with this transmission stand made simply from 3/4" pipe fittings. It worked great for me and made the rebuilding assembly of the transmission very easy.

Handy, but all that pipe can be expensive.

to save pipe expenses...I have seen this same idea done with just the 3/4 downpipe coming off the trans drain hole with a T fitting at the bottom and clamped in a vise.

Looks good...but, isn't that a lot of stress on the area where the drain plug goes?

Re: Transmission Work Stand

I use a short piece of pipe and fit the lower end into a 2 x 12 about a foot long.
Cheap and easy tranny holder.

I do the same, with a hole in the 2 X 12 sose I can direct solvent used to preliminarily clean the gearbox (before disassembly) into a metal pan below for waste removal.
