best guesstimate needed on used part- I have a nice front radius rod to sell and don't know what a fair asking price might be...
it is the 4th type listed in Judging Standards (late '28-early '30) very straight with little or no wear on the ball. |
Re: best guesstimate needed on used part- 5 years ago I bought a nos one for $125

Re: best guesstimate needed on used part- Start at $5,000. You can always come down.

Re: best guesstimate needed on used part- thanks, oldblueoval, for some useful info.
and thanks, nkaminar, for fulfilling my prediction that there would be at least one silly answer..... eagerly awaiting other opinions/experiences from the rest of you'ns. |
Re: best guesstimate needed on used part- I’ve had a very good one with a perfect ball for sale for four years at $40 and no interest whatsoever.

many parts like that........finally took 50. for a 10 leaf rear spring after 3 yrs........ funny cause when I needed one, couldnt find one. scrapped a complete xlnt rear for 20. because when I offered it for free- buyer wtd an early 28, but had no rear in the meantime. go figure....... |

Re: best guesstimate needed on used part- agree Ray, wish I had been one of the inheritors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With no active market the price is decimated. No buyers means reduction in price. and sometimes scrap............. |

Re: best guesstimate needed on used part- in the past i've sold them anywhere from $100-$150 depending on how round the ball was on the end.

Re: best guesstimate needed on used part- Wouldn't the shipping be the deterrent and not the cost of large parts? I've seen good prices for large parts that I would like but shipping those or the lack of the seller shipping local pickup only! I did drive 6 hours one way to buy a new in the box Mitchell trans and overdrive, I called the seller every couple of hours telling him where I was he did wait patiently!

Biggest drawback now days, cost of shipping. |
Re: best guesstimate needed on used part- I dont ship large parts- pickup or CL are the only methods I use.

Re: best guesstimate needed on used part- I hate to see parts go to scrap Someone in the future will want them and cuss the person who discarded them. Maybe tomorrow, maybe 100 years from now. I don't have a good solution for storing them. Perhaps donating to a museum. I have a friend that collects Model A stuff. He has a barn full of cars and parts. When he dies all that will be distributed to other collectors and many of the cars, all of them original and complete, will be restored to drive again.

Re: best guesstimate needed on used part- Old uneeded parts always cost me money to get rid of but I had fun doing it and met a bunch of neat people along the way.
I gave them away with the stipulation they had to come get them. The deal usually cost me a cup of coffee or a beer. |
