1932 pedal set question
 

I have tried to search, but haven't found any good answers. So I am looking for some help here.

I have two different pedal sets for 1932. They are rather different, both the frame brackets, the style of the pedals and also the place of the grease fittings.

The rusty one is a very early version, identified by the little tits at the pedals' elbow and the lube fitting on the end of the shaft.

I haven't seen a cast pedal bracket before. I know that Ford of Canada used some other cast brackets that were pressed steel in US production (not 32). I have a 32 pedal set that the bracket is part if the K-member leg, all in one piece, except for the thick washer-like bosses that hold the pivot shaft.

That cast bracket is an odd ball and I suspect was made post 1932. The pedals with the bracket are also unusual in that the evidence on the underside of one of them suggests that they were cast instead of forged like the originals.

There are very few surviving examples of Flatout's integral-with-the-K-member pedal mounting and even fewer of the earliest of all of the '32 pedal mounting setups used before the K-members were added to the frame (shown below).

I've owned the earliest version also, David. I saw them at a swap meet years ago, but didn't know what they were because of the bracket. The pedals looked to be 32 though. When I saw the 32 chassis picture in Sorenson's book, The American Ford, the light went on. I went back to the swap meet the following year and the same guy was there and he still had the pedal set. I paid his $3 asking price. Later I got the correct crossmember from a pickup frame that that was being rodded. I receive all three crossmembers free for drilling out the rivets and removing them. Frame #352.

Just as an add-on to 32 pedals. Her is a picture of "big" truck 32 pedals that I am using for my AV8 build. It will direct mount to the K menber.

Another oddity is that the V8 brake pedal is shorter then the B model.

Sorry, the difference in brake pedal lengths (from the axis to elbow) was a running change made to all passenger/commercial versions at the same time. What you are looking at is an early pedal and a late pedal. It is a coincidence that one was from a V-8 chassis and the other from a B chassis; it could have been the opposite depending on the dates of the pedals' manufacture.
