To cold to be in garage It's a cool 15 degrees out there today, and inside the garage is even colder.
I drained the water out of the car today, changing out hoses so had to be done anyways. Think I'll stay inside the warm house the rest of today. |
Re: To cold to be in garage Could be worse....

Re: To cold to be in garage I have to think for a bit when Fahrenheit is quoted.
But when it is that cold -36, it does not matter much..... -40 F is the same as -40 C. And all I know is, the coldest I have ever been in is -8 C and that was cold enough. You guys can keep your brass monkey temps and your tornadoes and earthquakes , I will have my fine sunny beach in OZ any day. |
Re: To cold to be in garage I took the front spindles and king pins off and brought them in.
It was a high of 14F here. |
Re: To cold to be in garage have the 80,000 btu heater operatin wide open and it is a comfortable 68 degrees in my shop - only 31 outside. yeh guys, i am spoiled.
Had to build a "pipe the exhaust to the outside system" today. Running and engine in a closed shop is a no-no. Had two carburetors to get tested for some club fellows. "twas a very good day". ken |

Re: To cold to be in garage I have radiant heat under the floor in my garage. It's always 65-70 F. See Radiant Tech.com.

To cold to be in garage I wish I had that in my shop, supposed to be fantastic heat, floors always warm...

Re: To cold to be in garage I just pretend it's 1967 and I am at Ft. Rucker in training. I remember the warm feeling I got when I left Alabama. Works every time.

Re: To cold to be in garage Back in the day, I rolled down the runway in Eielson AFB at -56F or rather I tried. the engine run up air blast froze the wheel bearing's grease. We were parked on compact snow. We slid back to the hanger and hit the bearings with 3 Herman Nelsons. Then made a rolling Take Off. throttle hit max MP at 50% of handle travel.
Happy new Year all. |
Re: To cold to be in garage I've had a Dayton, 220 Volt Space Heater, for 8 years, NEVER have plugged it in.

Re: To cold to be in garage You guys are all telling lies! Global warming is here according to those in the know and we should be thankful for wind power and solar!
BTW, I’m in SoCal and it was 70 at the beach. |
Re: To cold to be in garage Back in the day at Eilson, we took a Herman Nelson inside with us so we could use it to heat the other Herman Nelsons to get them started. Blew a few prop seals.

Re: To cold to be in garage in my area of VA it never gets quite as cold as some of the areas posted, but we have our share of 20F and lower days. When I built my garage I put 12" of insulation in the ceiling and 6" in the walls. I have a big electric wall heater next to my work bay and a propane heater that makes it warm enough to work in, but I look forward to those warmer days coming in about 3 months or so...

It was 81 degrees Fahrenheit here but no water. David Serrano |
Re: To cold to be in garage It warmed up here to about 43 degrees (F) today. I got out to the garage to do some tinkering. I didn't want to start any projects because it will turn cold again soon enough.
