Steering Box Adjustments

I installed a new sector shaft and bushings in my steering box for my 30 Fordor. At the center position there is no freeplay before the pitman arm starts to move. (Which is good, right?) At 1/2 turn of the steering wheel in both directions, there is about 2" movement in the steering wheel before the pitman arm starts to re-act. It is pretty well equal in both directions. Is this normal wear, because I did not put in a new worm and would a new worm get rid of this? Do you think I should keep playing with the adjustments to get it better, or is this normal. I followed (most) of the directions from one of the Les Andrews series of how-to's. Thanks in advance to anyone who has done this before..... Jim

Re: Steering Box Adjustments

Jim, check the SERVICE BULLETINS section on steering and you will find this is normal and built this way by design. S/B has an excellent section on setting up the steering adjustments.
