Stromberg 67 over small 97
 

Does anyone know what 67 over the 97 means.
I have seen large 97 and small 97 but I not familiar with 67 over 97.
Is there any difference between the two as far as performance and can
the parts interchange. Thanks Blast.

It is my understanding that the '67' denotes 36 commercial vehicles...I believe the 67 carb was fitted to 1936 commercial vehicles from new. [off the assembly line]. Later, replacement carbs didn't have the 67.

The 67-9510 was introduced in 1936 to replace the 48-9510 carb. The 67 denotes the part number prefix and the 97 denotes a .97" venturi. 67 and 97 are one in the same carb.

I have not seen the Carb. marked "67 over 97" From what I have seen the 67 is marked nowhere near the 97. The 67 was used on passenger vehicles.

IMO: Ford rebuilt carburetors and exchanged the Ford carburetor as a core for a rebuilt. Prior to 35 there rebuilding program had problems with Non-Ford parts being taken in as cores. The Stromberg 97 was used on other auto Mfg. cars The addition of the 1936 Ford part number prefix helped to identify the 36 Ford Carb. The addition of 48 to the 1935 Carb. identified the 35 Ford Carb.

In my experience, the only difference between the 67 / 97, and the large 97 is the size of the numbers. It is an ego thing.

Yes that’s what I have. Just wondering if it is correct for 1936.
Why the 67 Is there must of meant something.

Since there still seems to be some confusion regarding the carburetors used in 1935 through 1936 Fords, I refer you all to a carburetor description on page 101 of the V-8 Club's 1935-36 Ford Book.
