Spark plug insert came out with the plug I changed spark plugs on Edmunds aluminum heads. I had a steel spark plug insert come out with the plug. Am I right this was put in to repair a stripped plug hole? I tried getting the insert off the old plug with solvent and heat but can't without buggering up the threads. Where can I get another insert? Then I could put a new one back in with red Loctite. Any help appreciated

Re: Spark plug insert came out with the plug I think NAPA sell them individually, if not a small engine repair should have them. I've fixed a couple of lawn mowers with them.

Re: Spark plug insert came out with the plug There are different styles--- take it with you to match it

Re: Spark plug insert came out with the plug I've used the KD brand thread inserts. And, yes, the ones I've experienced, all come out with the plug. In the distant past, I've been able to get KD inserts.

Re: Spark plug insert came out with the plug Make sure you take a good spark plug with you to "test fit" the matching threads.

Re: Spark plug insert came out with the plug I'm surprised that there was no locktite on the insert? I always use locktitie on them - red or green.

Re: Spark plug insert came out with the plug Thank you all for the good info

Re: Spark plug insert came out with the plug If I'm not mistaken, they don't recommend any type of Locktite or other adhesives etc. It might prevent the plug from making good electrical contact in the head.

Re: Spark plug insert came out with the plug Good to know Woodie I'll look into that.
