Whats the hole for? I just bought a 40 Ford Sedan Deluxe It has a hole in the top center of the dash. Can somebody tell me what this hole is for? ( Not the hole above the gauges)

Re: Whats the hole for? I could be wrong but I think up to the 40s they had "safari" front windshields. Which would have a knob there to open the windshield. I know that in 42 they did not. No reference for the 40 car.

Re: Whats the hole for? The windshield on a 40 does not open

Re: Whats the hole for? The hole in question would be for the antenna. If the car did not have a radio It would have a maroon plug. If I was around my 40 Deluxe, i would have attached a photo

Re: Whats the hole for? Thank you That means that I can buy an antenna plug for the hole?
|
Re: Whats the hole for? The hole is for the special nut that holds the radio in at the top, the antenna rod goes through this up to where it exits to the outside either in the top or above the glass depending on if it is a regular closed car or a convertible/Woodie. Yes the plug for that hole comes in maroon for a deluxe car and sand for a V8 (standard) vehicle.
