Odd pipe in oil gallery, any ideas please?

2 Attachment(s)
Just pulled the tappet cover off to fit an oil filter kit and where the pipe is to be located for the oil filter feed a pipe has already been fitted and is pointed down into the timing cover. Now maybe it had an oil filter kit fitted previously or there were oiling issues? Either way I want to remove the pipe to fit the pipe for the oil filter kit. But now worried that I may cause an issue by doing so. Car has a Simmons Power Head not sure if this makes any difference?

Thoughts welcome please ;)

The only thing I can think of is to channel more oil flung off the timing wheel to the main bearing feeds . .I hope it is well secured so it doesnt get eaten by the timing wheel ,I would remove it as IMHO the benefit would be minimal .

John in dreary cool wet where is Mr Sunshine Suffolk County England.

possibly tube to a once in history external oil filter.

Think when you drop the pan you will find the pipe goes to the mains as a homemade pressure to the mains--- look in the valve chamber to see if the oil feed pipes are blocked off

Hi All

Thanks for the all the inputs.

Removed the offending pipe and fitted the oil filter kit, all seems well (so far:))
