Looking for A proper Radiator Hello
Am looking for an Aftermarket Radiator for my 1955 Mercury Camper (Pictured). It has a 351 Windsor Motor with a Four Speed manual transmission.I have a 70s truck radiator in it now but want to get a better one,as it still runs a little to hot. Any suggestions on brand name and price out there? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks Jack PS if you have one that will fit for sale That would help too |
Re: Looking for A proper Radiator I know there is a genuine reluctance to buy parts off eBay, but this radiator seems an exceptional deal.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/230561529705...1#ht_500wt_922 The standard 55 radiator has a good surface area exposed to airflow and this just seems to make that fact better. I ran a modified ( fitted with four cores ) 55 radiator in front of a 351 Cleveland with an FMX and it never ever boiled over in any conditions. I did run a pusher electric fan in front of it along with a engine mounted flex fan. I do think this is a better rad than I was using though I haven't seen one in the flesh - just going by sellers description. Regards |
Re: Looking for A proper Radiator Most of your popular resto parts suppliers are selling OEM replacement radiators for '55 Fords. I have even found some of the smaller outfits that specialize in supplying few parts are also selling the new radiators. Concours parts and a few others are also offering heavy-duty radiators to fit the old cars.

Re: Looking for A proper Radiator The radiator on e-pay is from Auto City Classics http://www.autocityclassic.com if you would rather deal with them in person. Seem to be good people. Might be cheaper at their web site http://www.autocityclassic.com/index...1065&Itemid=65
The guy I talked to last about a gas tank for my Ranchwagon was Tom 763-444-5850. |
Re: Looking for A proper Radiator This is also a good way to go,several members of the 52-56 Ford group have these http://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-1966-FO...ht_3649wt_1186 The 1965-66 Mustang radiators are a bolt-in for 1949-56 Fords and 1952-56 Mercs some companies are selling them as Ford & Merc specific and tacking on $80-$100 more to the price, don't be fooled by hype you can also use the matching fan shroud http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-1965-19...#ht_2686wt_948
