Flathead Ford Water Pump

4 Attachment(s)
I want to rebuild this water pump but would like to know if the Pulley comes off will I be able to get the rest of it apart. How is a good way to hold the pulley when pressing it off the shaft? It looks like the impeller is pressed on also. Any advise will be appreciated.

I press the shaft down through the pulley...impeller and shaft will come out the other side of the pump.
Trying to hold the pulley by the edge will end up bad either broken(cast pulley) or bent(sheetmetal pulley).

You will have to make up some fixtures to get it done right. However, I don't think they make impellers, and the old one doesn't look very good. Sen it to Skips.

The complete rebuild kits has the shaft bushing seal and impeller so should be all needed for a total rebuild as long as the core ainīt to rusty.
One way to fix the sealing surface is to stick a large valvegrinding pilot in the bushing and grind it flat.

What ol'ron said. Send it to Skip Haney in Florida and he will rebuild your original pump with new bearings and new modified impeller. That way you get your original pump back and guarantee it will fit. Get them both rebuilt at the same time. You won't be sorry. Call him. 941-637-6698
