Shock Absorbers.

Hi, I have just joined the Ford Barn as I need some advise on adjusting lever shock absorbers on my 1936 V8.
I had a broken one on the rear which were not standard ones. I managed to find 2 old originals that I had refurbished and fitted them yesterday but they don't sit right.
There is in the center of the shaft the adjuster, but where should this be.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers, Chris

Re: Shock Absorbers.

Dear Seabird,
Contact Neil Warring at Transform Paint and Panel 379 Wilsons Road, Waltham, Christchurch, 8011, NZ. Ph 0210505180. Neil gave me great service on my 1937 shock absorber rebuilds and is an early V8 owner.
Best regards,

Re: Shock Absorbers.

Where they are set is a preference of ride. I have rebuilt ones on the rear of my '38 and have them set two hash marks up from minimum. Any harder setting creates a harsh ride IMHO. Unless you have your shocks set really high (stiff), I don't see how it will affect the way the car sits. Try setting them low and gradually stiffen the setting until you are happy.
