30/31 coupe seat frame Anyone have a picture or could tell me how the upholstery would go on the seat frame for a coupe? I took my seat cushions to a guy to upholster them, and he thinks the back cushion material has to wrap over the top of the seat frame and tack to it. Also is there material on the sides of the seat frame, and if so how does it attach.
Thanks Bob |
Re: 30/31 coupe seat frame That is exactly what I needed to see! How are the steel side pieces done? Do you glue the material on them or is that a panel?
Thanks Bob |

Re: 30/31 coupe seat frame Hello Guys, I know this is an old thread, but it appears the answer was deleted. Does anyone know how the upholstery material is attached to the back rest frame of an early 30 coupe? Thanks, Kyle

Re: 30/31 coupe seat frame In most cars the seat is upholstered and then installed. In the coupe that is true for the seat bottom but not the back.
The back is about three-quarters upholstered and then installed. Final upholstery happens in the car. That includes the accordion strip that attaches to the package tray...and I seem to remember some fabric "loops" that hold the spring set to the car. Here is a link to a thread that I contributed to some years ago. In that I described how to remove the seat, which may help you envision how to put it back in. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=115366 Ken |
