Neither rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

Re: U. S. Mail

oops, gloom of night might keep this dedicated carrier from his rounds. No headlights. But high water won't!!

Bet they had to lube the wheel bearings every week on that lifted creek runner.

Where we lived growing up we had to ford the creek and it was really hard on brake linings. Dad was always having to reline brakes.

Take note of the drivers side front fender !! Radiator shell is a 1929, License plate has a 1960 issue date.

Looks like the radius arms go back to brackets on the chassis instead of the bell housing to keep the king pin inclination angle right? (Castor)
Otherwise, interesting bracket to lower the front spring.

And no one has commented on "what" he is pouring into the radiator from a "can"
Did anti-freeze come in quart cans back when?
I'm old but I don't remember that.

It doesn't look like a winter scene so I think he is using the can to get water from the creek.

Back in the fall of 1969 I had a quart can of Prestone brand anti-freeze. I added it to my first car, a 1960 Buick. Yup, that’s all. Yes, the block froze and cracked that winter.

Although the driver has short sleeves, notice there are no leaves on trees in the background. I would say winter. Just an unseasonably warm day in Tennessee. (Like we had here on Christmas this year.)

Re: U. S. Mail

Yes anti freeze came in cans. Both quarts and gallons. I have a few quarts left, but the gallon I had got a hole rusted thru the bottom (from the outside in)
The brand was Valvoline.

Australia Post hasn't delivered here for several days due to the smoke. It's only 15 x critical air quality or something. Where have all the real men gone?
