New car

I've been thinking about getting another Model A, I would like to get a Pickup but I'm afraid I might not fit. I have a late 1931 tudor now. I've had a coupe a fordor and other tudors, are pickups that tight or would I be better off looking for another Fordor. Thank You for any input.

Re: New car

I had a hard time fitting into a 29 and I am 5'4 about 165-not then of course. I was about 150. So.....there is at least one reference point.

84 years old with an early '28 OCPU, the most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever owned. It's also hard to get in and out of but I still like it. My dog likes it too.

30 CC PU, am 65, 220 lbs., 5'10", was 245 lbs. a couple of years ago. a little cramped, suggest add a little padding on the seat, the suspension on mine is mostly on the seat. Stiff ride. Definitely need a "process" getting in and out. Not much room between the seat riser and the edge of the door opening for getting your feet in and out. Have to have your feet sideways.

Also as an FYI, as stock, trucks are usually geared lower, 1st gear is a real granny gear, I typically start in 2cnd. Mine is in decent shape, but not restored. Mine likes to cruise at 40-45, above 45 it sounds real busy, do not like running it above 45. 55 on the flat no headwind is my max, slows to 40 - 45 on steep hills. This is with a recent head gasket/valve job and good compression. I believe some change the diff gears to a higher ratio, for better speeds.

5'9" 235 lbs with bad knees. Driving my '29 CCPU is one of the great joys in my life.

Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway - that has to be "sweet" driving in an A, beautiful scenery.

Re: New car

My '29 OCPU is tight and a bear to get in and out of, mostly because I don't step on the running board. Getting that left foot out can be a chore. Great little car for short trips, but I would never tour in mine.

P.S., Once in mine and rolling, it does not seem to tight, as I have never put a top on mine so it feels nice and open.

I am 5'9", 225#. My '31 came to me with a beautiful looking seat that was too high and too stiff. I drove it that way for 8 years, 10K+ miles. Even then it was dooable. My wife complained enough that I now have seats that sit much lower and are way more comfortable.

Getting in and out is a "learned experience"!

I recommend you sit in a fellow club member's P-U for a determination if one would be a good 'FIT' for you.

Re: New car

Seems that '28 & '29 Pickups are traded often, 'cause they're SO TIGHT!
Ted built a BEAUTY,even with A.C. After He & Naomi took 3 rides, he SOLD it!
I wanted a pickup, BAD, but I couldn't fit right, even in a '30 or '31---
