Pertronix 1285LS Crab conversion

Hi Guys,
I am interested in reading more about these 1285LS conversion modules for the crab distributor. I searched on here and not much has been posted for a couple of years.
My set up is 12volt neg earth and alternator. Stock 59A .
There was some discussion about needing 1.5 ohm Coil and 1.5 ohm resistor, but some disagreed with the need for the resistor.
What is the latest suggestion for these units?
thanks,
Dave

Pertronix recommends full 12 volts to the Pertronix trigger unit.
Use a 1.5 ohm 12 volt coil.

Great thanks guys,
some of the earlier posts were misleading (back in 2013). It appears to be an easy conversion.

Check for excessive wear in the bushings. The original shops that did these conversions (Jerry Jobe & Mickey Remund) would install new bushings and line ream them. I suspect that's why these units didn't have a lot of the problems that later do it your self ones had.
