Horn Motor Does anyone make a replacement horn motor? I broke the end off mine on disassembly T I A RAY

Re: Horn Motor Yes, there are new reproduction horns being made but I doubt that you can just purchase the motor portion from the manufacturer. I would suggest you contact one of the horn rebuilders, they may have a spare motor or whatever part of the motor that is damaged. Lastly, find a used horn like yours that is cosmetically challenged and just buy it for the motor (if it works).

Re: Horn Motor Try contacting A&L, they're the ones making the new horns. No website, located in New Hartford, CT.

Re: Horn Motor Stewart Warner has left hand threads on the end of the armature that hold the ratchet wheel on. They can be repaired bur it is a challenge.

Re: Horn Motor Ray,
You can drill a hole in the shaft and thread it with right hand threads or left hand and use a new screw. Take it to your friendly machine shop and have it done correctly. About $10 bucks is what they charge me around here. If it is right hand threads, you will need to reverse the field current for a right hand threads or the screw will soon come loose. Should you need me, I am here. Neil THE HORN MAN 601-469-0878 |
