1937 Ford Coupe Barn Find What is Value

I am looking at black 1937 Ford coupe. The car has been taken apart about 40 year ago. Then restoration stopped. The car has hydraulic brakes. The motor and trans suppose to have been rebuilt. The car has no rust and no interior. What is value of car in this condition? Thanks for help.

I'm doing a 38 ford coupe, about the same condition. Paid a lot more than I should have. A lot of small but expensive parts were worn , damaged or missing. No engine but good trans. All the major body parts were there but had dents. PM me for what I paid.

Without a LOT more information including photos there is no way a value can be put on this car. It's like asking your doctor to diagnose your illness over the phone.

$100?
Could you be a little more ambiguous first so we could know less about the car?

We need much more information and as many pictures as you can post here to even begin to help with this question.

Re: 1937 Ford Coupe Barn Find What is Value

Opinion.... Solid cars, apart, and apart for many years with several small things 'misplaced', are, in my opinion, not worth very much. I did a 34 a few years ago, similar story. I had a lot of fun, and a lot of 'entertainment'. It was not a financially sound thing to do. Seems to me, people who own these projects, measure their worth compared to finished, driving cars. I'm more inclined to measure the worth against scrap value, or swap meet parts value.
Having said all this, I also would note that the market trend seems to be down, and going down more as us older folks die off. Easy to see, if you follow prices for your favorite models, as compared to just a few years ago.

That ebay listing is a Nice car for $25k. Paint glass and upholstery is going to be aroud $15k if you do it right. Then all the mechanicals puts a project like that about $3500 maybe if its got a clear title.

Unless you're talking 1980 dollars, then man oh man, I need to take my work to your shop. $15k for "done right" paint, upholstery and glass?
I'm just putting the finishing touches on another '40 convertible and have all of $15k in body / paint materials.

I guess then its worth about $1500.

There are a ton of nice finished cars that can be had for a fraction of starting with a incomplete project. Sounds like the term basket case covers a wide range

Dont bring it to me, i paint them with a roller

Re: 1937 Ford Coupe Barn Find What is Value

I could never afford to play with old cars if I had to pay $15k for a paint job. Thats usually more than I have in a car. I personally don't think they are any fun to have if they are over restored to the point that it has a paint job worth thousands of dollars.
Thats my humble brokeass opinion.

Re: 1937 Ford Coupe Barn Find What is Value

If one has to pay for all the work done on any old vehicle, it will NEVER be worth what you put into it unless it is some ultra rare desirable vehicle. In my area the cost of the best paint (no body work, just prime/sand/final color) is in the 30k range, I know of 3 cars that were painted by this guy and all were in the 30k range. And yes, they are perfect. One car is a 32 3w that is owned by Lloyd Nordstrom of the Nordstrom family that has a clothing business, so the deep pocket people can pay for perfect.

I learned how to do bodywork and paint because I couldn't afford to pay someone else to do it. Have been painting cars since the early 70s and still am learning new tricks.
