Zenith B carb power tube I had a little accident while painting the carb and now I have a damaged power tube. It’s almost broken off where its pressed into the upper part of the carb. Here’s my question: does the tube really have to extend down 1 1/2” to work properly? This puts the end 7/8” below the gas level.

Re: Zenith B carb power tube Yes.
It picks up the gas from the float bowl and needs to be that long or it won't work right. |
Re: Zenith B carb power tube I would say no, you could shorten it an 1/8 or 3/16 and it won't effect the performance.

Re: Zenith B carb power tube A guy who used to be a respected member, named Purdy Swoft, once told us newbies that those tubes had to be one of "Those tubes". I believe the suppler was Renner's Corner. Though I've never dealt with them myself, I've never heard anything negative about them and would not hesitate to buy anything from them. Purdy spoke of trying to make make replacemnt tubes in all sort of ways. One I recall was using brass pen ink refills tubes, sadly, it did, it did not work. So unless you are a competent machinist, I guess it's Renner's.

Re: Zenith B carb power tube There is a gentleman on here, that can repair it the proper way. Whne I say propper, I mean not trying to JB Weld an old ink pen tube in the casing.

Re: Zenith B carb power tube Dave Renner seems to be a great guy, very helpful and not arrogant at all. That’s where I’ll buy zenith parts from now on. Highly recommend!!!!
