Doing a roadster top 1 Attachment(s)
1920 straight windshield car with ew everything, and wondering where the front bow strap loops attach to the bow. any help appreciated.

Re: Doing a roadster top I always place the footman loops in line with the seam on the top. Place the footman loops on the surface of the bow which faces the floor of the car, not on the front surface. John

Re: Doing a roadster top Thank you for a reply, I need to attach the top to the windshield, it uses leather straps to a loop at the hinge. The bows have to be set before I'll get to any seams in the top material. the loops probably go all the way to the metal of the socket

Re: Doing a roadster top Do you have the curved irons? If you do then yes, the screws would go through the iron into the wood.

Re: Doing a roadster top Straight irons and curved wood bows.

Re: Doing a roadster top I would place the footman loops about 5 inches in from the curve of the wooden bow. After you have the top on, you can always move the footman loops if you have to. The front bow covering will hide the screw holes if you have to move them. Drill a pilot hole into the wood first. The screw will probably break off without a pilot hole. John

Re: Doing a roadster top Thanks, that is what I will do. Once I get the bows set I will finesse things.
