What gass to use
 

I'm still plugging filters. have new gas tank ordered, and running on 5 gal. new plastic gas can. The filter is still plugging up, which is telling me my gas line (steel) is also bad. What I need to know if the copper line that Mac's has is suited for this new crap gas we have to use? Any help would be appreciated. AL

Mac's has nice big ads. Beyond that, you pays your money and you takes your chances. You want a fuel line you know to be correct and as original, get it from someone you can count on like Roy Nacewicz Enterprises. www.fordbolts.com He's not the only source, but I doubt that Mac's would have the correct Bundy fuel lines.

Copper can be a problem in applications such as fuel lines because it work hardens and can crack resulting in a leak. There is steel line that is copper coated which is fine, but actual copper is not.

I bought steel brake line, bent it to fit, and used unions with white tape at the fittings. I used a clamp to the frame about every 18 inches, or less. When its all done and has no leaks, I sprayed it with rattle can undercoating. The steel brake line will bend easy with a tube bender.

Thank's for the info. I wasn't sure about using copper line for gas line from tank to firewall. It would probably be easier to install than steel, but didn't know if there might be a problem with this new gas with the copper. I've found some that is steel with copper coating I guess I'll go with that. Thanks again Al

The gas with ethanol gets blamed for many things, whether it is the cause or not.

ive been using well clamped copper line from the tank to the firewall, for 30 + years.
No problems at all. The this is to mount the copper line so it dont vibrate, and clamped to teh frame it wont.

Got steel copper coated ordered from Carpenter, going to install new fuel pump and have the outside of my new gas tank powder coated, if it don't work I'll put a 6 volt electric on it at the back by the tank. If that don't fix it I'll plant flowers in it and set it in the front yard. Nope I'm just kidding about giving up, ain't that kinda guy. Al

The last thing you want to do is use WHITE TAPE on anything fuel-related. The tape can break-off and get into moving pieces in a carburetor or fuel pump. In addition, WHITE tape is chemically NON-COMPATIBLE with gasoline. The answer is to use proper fuel line fittings that are designed for a positive, mechanical seal against liquid (or gaseous) fuels.
